Sopraano Marjaana Ritanen, Kangasniemen laulukilpailu

BIOGRAPHY

Marjaana Ritanen is a soprano based in Finland. She is currently finishing up her Bachelor’s degree of voice and vocal pedagogy in Tampere University of Applied Sciences, where she has been working with teachers Reetta Haavisto and Satu Sippola. 
She sung her diploma concert in spring 2023 with a program of Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder arranged to voice, string quartet and piano and Aulis Sallinen’s Four songs of dream.

In 2023 she performed her debuts of Puccini’s Suor Angelica in Tampere Cathedral and Wagner’s Sieglinde from Die Walküre in Dramatic Voices Program Berlin.

Marjaana was awarded first prize in Kangasniemi singing competition 2024. In the final held in Kangasniemi Church she performed two arias, 'La mamma morta' by Giordano and 'Der Männer Sippe' by Wagner, with Kuopio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Lucie Leguay. 

In 2025 she was rewarded second prize both in Lappeenranta National Singing Competition and in Mauno Pudas Foundation's singing competition. 


Her debut album 'Ilon, kauneuden maa' of composer Esko Alanen’s songs with pianist Tuula Hällström was released in September 2023.
In 2024 she sung the role of Maija Länsilehto in Esko Alanen’s opera ’Elokuu’  which is based on a novel by  F.E. Sillanpää.  Performances took place in Tampere region. 

Marjaana is a board member of cultural association EIKU ry and has been actively performing in several productions and concerts produced by it for over ten years.
